Font - Invited guy I met, and liked, to go to a "thing" that my cousin and I would be going to. We are all in mid-40's.

Font - Bottom line: he ignored me all night and was interested in my cousin - sat across from her and walked her to her car afterwards. I felt like a 3rd wheel. She wasn't into him.

Font - Background: he is my supervisor at work; we've been talking through work and hit it off, and when we finally met in the office we had a connection. He said he didn't have anyone to show him around - he's new to the area, so I invited him to this event. He seemed super excited but when he got there it was like a switch had flipped. He barely looked at me.

Font - Am I right to feel embarrassed, hurt, and/or angry?? It was so confusing - I'm still processing it. I haven't talked to him since the event (last night). I'm a little bewildered.

Font - Gnomer81 · 20 hr. ago I'm wondering if he thought you guys were going out as friends, since he is your supervisor? Because every single place I've worked (and I'm 40F) has had a policy that would not allow a supervisor to date an employee. My brother got transferred and his fiancé fired because they were dating. It's typically frowned upon. Even when allowed, it can cause favoritism and resentment.

Font - Sunnymood_Today · 13 hr. ago From an outsider pov, it doesn't sound like it was a date anyway? He may have believed you was being friendly, and the circumstances ended up in him being naturally attracted to your cousin, so he pursued what he wanted? Accept it and move on, just stay friendly and professional.

Font - shewantsthep · 22 hr. ago Hm are you really in your 40s? I would think someone of that age would know it's weird to date their supervisor. If you guys were of the same position, it'd probably be fine but it's just weird because he has a higher position than you. I would say just move on.

Font - Angelbabysxxx · 1 day ago Does he know that you liked him & saw it more than just a friendly thing? Especially since he's your supervisor, he genuinely might not have seen it that way. Regardless, it was very rude to ignore you
